The idea of the rug has been inspired by the water lily as the leaves covering a lake or pond create a contrast with the water underneath. I used the feature of cut pile versus looped pile, to give the product 3rd dimension. This solution also gives tonal colour variety, which is based on the natural feature of light's reflection from the side of the yarn.
The rug was designed for the London based client. Its aqua blue colour and irregular shape perfectly complement the client's Morning Room in its elliptical shape and existing glass bubble chandelier. The biggest challenge was to transport the ready product, as the total length is almost 7m.
